The Pre-Festival event of ANIMASYROS 2025!

The official presentation of the ANIMASYROS 2025 programme was held in Athens, at the new interactive space Europa Experience: award-winning films, leading figures of international animation, special tributes, educational workshops, Agora activities, and a variety of parallel events are coming to the capital and seven islands of the Cyclades!

The official presentation of the ANIMASYROS 2025 programme was hosted at Europa Experience on Monday 15 September, in the presence of distinguished guests, artists, animation professionals, journalists, supporters, and friends of the Festival.

The President of ANIMASYROS, Vassilis C. Karamitsanis, was the main host of the event, which also featured simultaneous interpretation into Greek Sign Language.

Konstantinos Tsoutsoplidis, Head of the European Parliament Office in Greece, welcomed the audience to Athens’ new interactive venue — the 16th European capital to host such a space — and noted that the European Parliament Office is supporting ANIMASYROS for the fifth consecutive year. He described the Festival as a landmark for creative people, with whom they shape a common language — a way of communication that upholds our shared European values.

Leonidas Christopoulos, CEO of theHellenic Film and Audiovisual Center, was also present at the event and addressed the audience, noting the importance of supporting festivals such as ANIMASYROS, which bring together creative minds from across Europe. He wished every success to this year’s edition.

Marinos Giannopoulos, CEO of Enterprise Greece, stated that he firmly believes in the potential of Greek animation and in the strategic role ANIMASYROS plays in its development, while pledging that the organization will continue to support the Festival’s growth in the future.

Once again this year, SKY express is the Official Partner and Air Transport Sponsor of the ANIMASYROS. Vasso Christidi, Managing Director of AVIAREPS S.A (SKY express), emphasized that, as part of its commitment to promoting creativity and cultural outreach, SKY express is expanding its collaboration with ANIMASYROS and, through the Festival’s central theme this year, is now taking its journey beyond the stratosphere.”

Subsequently, greetings were delivered by the Ambassadors of Croatia, Estonia, Portugal, Australia, Latvia, and Lithuania, as well as by Maria Wadjinny, Director of the French Institute in Athens, and Pilar Tena García, Director of the Cervantes Institute.

A particularly touching moment was the screening of the short film “Ninety Seconds for Mikis Theodorakis”, dedicated to the great composer. This is the sixth film in the “Ninety Seconds” series by ANIMASYROS, produced in collaboration with the radio station Melodia 99.2. The film was presented by Dimitris Vrachnos, Director of Melodia 99.2, and Alexandros Charkiolakis, President of the “Friends of Music” Association.

Immediately after, Maria Anestopoulou, the Artistic Director of ANIMASYROS, along with Yiannis Lolis, who coordinates the Agora with Marineta MAK Kritikou, presented the Festival programme, which they described as “the richest programme in the history of ANIMASYROS”.
